Kentucky: Part 3

On Thursday Jarett went to play with Grandma and the rest of us went to pay Uncle Gary and Aunt Carolyn a visit. Jeremy had told me all about Uncle Gary's garden and I was looking forward to seeing it.

Wow. His whole back yard is a garden. Literally. He has one main section in the middle of the yard with rows of stuff and a few smaller areas off to the side. Then all the rest of the yard has things here and there where you wouldn't even expect it. He has everything from fruits and veggies to herbs and spices and natural remedies.

The boys got to pull some carrots from the ground.

Kaeden thought it was really cool to be able to do that.

So cool, in fact, that he actually ATE the carrot. Raw. My kid ate a raw carrot. I don't thing that has ever happened.

We've been wanting to start a garden here for quite some time and seeing Kaeden actually eat a vegetable was all the push I needed to get it started for real. Jeremy built me one when we got home. I'll post some pics of that once I'm all caught up.

It was great to visit with Uncle Gary and Aunt Carolyn for a little while and grill some burgers and dogs. We hope to see them again soon.

From there we went to Cave Hill. It's a cemetery that Jeremy has gone on and on about how beautiful it is. It's where his grandparents are buried and where many people go just to enjoy the beauty and feed the ducks at the pond.

This place is breathtakingly gorgeous. Rolling hills, gorgeous landscaping, so quiet and peaceful. I probably could have spent the day there just looking at all the headstones, some dating back to the early 1800's, and wondering what each person's life was like when they were living, what their story was.

After paying our respects to the Cox's we drove back to the lake to let the kids feed the ducks.

Gross feather but he thought it was cool.

It really was breathtaking there.

Jen's kids boys weren't too keen on the ducks. The ducks are used to getting fed so they're pretty aggressive. Notice the concerned look on Sam's face.

And there's Jacob hiding out. He's the bit of blue amidst the sea of green.

Kaeden was out of bread and telling them, 'sorry guys, y'all ate it all'.

Just as we were finishing up Jeremy's mom got there with Jarett. Jeremy attempted to feed the ducks with him but Jarett has just woke up and wasn't to in to it.

Later that night Kaeden finally got to catch some lightning bugs. It had rained the prior couple of nights and they weren't out. It was tough to get a picture of the actual bug with my phone but I did get a picture of my excited kid. Although, I think my flash blinded him a bit. ;)

To end our Kentucky trip pictures, a couple of random shots of my kids playing. Cute on of Kaeden, funny one of Jarett.

Thank you so much to Uncle Tony and Aunt Jen for having us in your home for a whole week. We had such an amazing time at the 173 and can't wait to come back again. We love you all!

So glad you took a bunch of pictures! Enjoyed reading each of these posts from your vacation. Sounds like you guys had a great trip! Can't believe how big they are. I can still remember when you were pregnant with Kaeden!
