Kaeden's 6th Birthday!

Kaeden was so excited for his party this year, for several reasons. This year his party actually fell on the same day as his birthday. He got to invite several of his school friends this year. I love that he has a little circle of friends now and it was nice being able to have a party with just his friends. His request this year was to have a pool party so we rented out the clubhouse at our neighborhood pool for the afternoon.

With all of his excitement I was freaking out a little for a couple of reasons. First, the pool was closed for repairs the entire week before the party. It finally opened back up on Thursday. I had no back up plan so I was so relieved that it reopened. However, come the day of the party, we woke up to a very ominous sky and a forecast for thunderstorms. Ack! I packed up all our board games just in case we got rained out. Luckily, though, the sun came out just before the party started and it stayed sunny and clear skied for the entire party. Wooooohooooo!

As soon as kids started arriving everyone went ahead and hit the pool. Easy entertainment for me!

He chose a bakugan (no idea how to spell that) cake this year and just wanted the number 6 on his cake instead of 6 candles.

Kids are so funny watching someone open presents. They were all just as excited for all the gifts as Kaeden was.

Thanks to everyone that came! We had a fantastic time. And by the way, as soon as we were home and unpacked, dark clouds rolled in and it started pouring rain. No lie. We got super lucky.

Sometimes I can't get over the fact that I gave birth to Kaeden 6 years ago. 6 years! It has flown by. He's looking more and more like a boy and less and less like a baby each and every day. It seems like yesterday he was toddling around like Jarett is now. He still really loves his Mama and I'll keep soaking that up for as long as he'll let me.

He'll be starting first grade this fall. He's been asking to play baseball so he'll be doing that in the fall too. He loves the pool and the beach and playing with his brother. He is the best big brother ever. Always cautious and protective when others are around him and always letting me know what J is getting in to. I can always count on him to entertain in a pinch. He is a video game addict and I really have to watch how much he's allowed to play. He is a kind and gentle soul and I learn a lot from him in that way. He loves everyone and just wants love in return. His favorite toys are beyblades, bakugans, legos, and any kind of action figure you can think of. He weighs 45 pounds and I think he's about 47 inches tall. I'll have to measure him again, he's growing like a weed these days. He was lost his bottom front two teeth in the last month or so and his adult teeth are already growing in fast. And they are crooked! The dentist says braces are definitely in our future. :(

He's one of the 3 best things that has ever happened to me. I'm just so thankful for him and feel so lucky that I get to be his Mama. I can only hope that I'm doing a good job and that he'll grow in to the kind of man I dream of him being.

I love you Kaeden.
