I have so many pictures from our Kentucky trip a couple of weeks ago that it's taking me forever to go through and edit them all, not to mention upload and blog about them. Things have been hectic lately.
I have a few minutes now so let's get after it.
We left for Kentucky on June 17th at like 6pm.... drove ALL night long and finally arrived at 6am. Jeremy and I were troopers and managed to keep our eyes open the whole time. The kids did better than I expected, even Jarett slept almost the whole time. Phew. I was nervous about that. Luckily, once we got there we were able to take a nice long (7 hour) nap and then we were good to go!
That same night (Friday) we went to Churchill Downs to watch the races. It was really neat to see where they have the Kentucky Derby every year. Tony got his hands on some Millionaire's Row tickets. Evidently those are the best. We got to go all the way up to the top of the place. The view was really gorgeous up there.I placed a bet and actually won. Too bad I skimped on my bet, only betting $2, so I only won like $20 I think. Haha. Oh well. I couldn't do it again if I tried, I'm sure.

We hung out and watched the races and tried some mint julips. I can't say I'm a fan but at least I can say I drank one at Churchill Downs.

On Saturday we went to a birthday party for cousin Lily who was turning one. She's such a little peanut compared to Jarett and they're only 3 weeks apart. It was great meeting more of Jeremy's family and spending the afternoon with them.

Jeremy's cousin Rachel's little guy, Nolan. I could NOT get him to smile at me for anything. I have about 10 pictures all with this face.

The kids were having fun just running around in the front yard. It was a nice evening, perfect weather. Here's another little cousin, Brody.

We tried to get Jarett and Lily to sit together for a picture. Neither one of them were really having it. The only way we could get them to sit still was to give them cookies.

It worked a little better for J than it did for L, obviously. YUM.

I really wish that Rachel(Nolan's mom) and Hope (Nolan and Lily's mom) lived closer. I've met Rachel before but this was my first time meeting Hope. I just get along with both of them so well.
The next day was Father's Day and we had a huge party planned. All the family was coming over for a cookout. Uncle Tony smoked a TON of pork and everyone else brought a dish. He started smoking the pork the night before so it would be ready by Sunday afternoon.

Let me tell ya, that BBQ was goooooood. So good, in fact, that as soon as we got home Jeremy went out and bought a smoker so we could try to reproduce it. (and we have :))
Here's the set up.... a tent, a bunch of chairs, food, beer, and cornhole. Doesn't get much better (or more southern) than that.

And for Father's Day.... Sr., Jr., and III.

Kaeden was there, promise. Although I didn't see much of him. He was busy running around playing with all the kids, lots and lots of kids. He was in heaven. :)
On Monday (or Tuesday, I can't remember) we went to Cherokee Park. It's a huge park with hiking trails, playgrounds, lakes, waterfalls, picnic areas, etc. Gorgeous, is all I can say. It was really hot that day but totally worth the sweat.
We ate lunch at a picnic spot and then walked down to the water, Beargrass Creek, and let the kids walk around in the water and rocks. Normally, you can walk all the way across to the other side but the water was too high at the time. Jeremy was still able to take the boys out pretty far though.

We took Kaeden up on a little trail to see Big Rock. He thought it was really cool that it was just the three of us.

Big Rock. Would've looked nicer without the graffiti and Mountain Dew bottle. ;) People jump off the rock in to the creek below.

We ran down and got J real quick for this pic once we got down off the trail. We thought it would be neat to have them both in the same spot.

Hey look, it's Mom and Dad together in a picture!!!

After that we drove around to the other side of the creek. Big Rock is much prettier from this angle.

My precious boys.

This was the perfect little spot for some pictures with the kids. I'm super happy with these although I do wish that we had gotten one with all four of us. But just the fact that the kids are looking, and even smiling in these pictures with us makes me giddy!

The older kids skipped rocks in the creek while I let Jarett play in the water and tried to keep him from eating slimy rocks.

I am so in love with these curls. I'm never cutting them. EVER.

K found a crab and wanted to show it off. Ew.

phew. I have so many pictures from this trip. Glad I'm finally making some headway. Next up, Woodford Reserve and Cave Hill, plus some other random things. I may have to do this in three parts!

I can't believe you were that close to me :) I live less than an hour from Louisville and only about 25 minutes from Woodford Reserve. Looks like a great trip!!!! Can't wait to see more :) Oh and I ADORE J's curls...too sweet!
I wouldn't cut those curls either! <3 Makes me wish any of my children had an ounce of curl!
Kentucky is beautiful!
