Kindergarten!

Kaeden started Kindergarten last week. I completely forgot to post pictures here. I guess that's what I get for putting them on facebook first. Anyway, the kinder classes do a staggered start so that the teachers are able to get to know the kids better those first few days and so that the kids aren't overwhelmed on their first day. So each kid does one day with like 4 or 5 other kids, then has a real day. Kaeden went on Wednesday last week and then Friday was his real day with the whole class.

He was so excited to be going to the 'big school'. We had already met his new teacher, Ms. Cirillo (Ms. C to the kids), at orientation and really liked her. There will be 17 kids total in the class. Not too big, which I like as well.

Here he is before leaving for school on his first day.

And in front of the school when we got there. His mascot is a mustang, same as mine was for high school. I'm mad the focus fell behind him, but you can't really tell when its small like this. ;)

His teacher didn't want the parents going in to the classroom with them so I didn't get any other pictures. It all happened so fast. lol. All in all the morning was a success. No tears from him of course and only a few from me when I got home.

So this week has been his first full week of school and he's been begging me to ride the bus. Each day that was looking like a better and better idea. Carpool traffic is the absolute worst. It takes so long to drop off and pick up and we only live like 3 minutes from the school. Not to mention Jarett is usually either hungry or tired and cranky during those times so its just a nightmare for all of us. Yesterday I decided we'd give the bus a try. I found out that all the kindergartners have to sit with each other in the very front of the bus and in the afternoons the teachers walk them to the bus to make sure they're on the right one. He was thrilled when I told him he'd be riding today.

It was so nice being able to just put the baby in the stroller and walk to the bus stop. No hassling with seat belts, car seats and traffic. Mornings have been cooler too so that's nice.

Kaeden talking to his friend Dylan from class. And I thought Kaeden was tall. ;) We were so excited to find out that the actually live in our neighborhood. Plus its comforting for me to know that he'll have a friend on the bus.

Up he goes.

The windows were dark tinted so I couldn't get a picture of him sitting in there. He was waving to me though. :)

Aaaaand they're off.

I wasn't even tempted to follow the bus to school. ;) I was home by 8:15 which was fantastic and as an added bonus.... Jarett was asleep by the time we got home. Super awesome.

I'll come back and update with a final picture of him getting off the bus this afternoon.

He looks so little climbing on that bus! Kanyon is jealous... he can't wait until he gets to ride the bus. :)
