A Day at the Park

well the pumking carving that was planned for last night didn't go as planned. actually, it didn't go at all. first i couldn't find a pumpkin carving kit anywhere around here, they were sold out. so we were going to just go old school generic ourselves. but as i was drawing on it the stem broke off and there were... eh hem... MAGETS on it!!!!! ewwwwww. gag me with a spoon! then we had the heebie geebies and decided to not even DARE to cut in to the pumpkin for fear that there may be a whole maget infestation inside! so we chunked it... tied up tightly in a thick black trash bag! oh well, better luck next year i guess.

so today is halloween and i decided to take kaeden to the park to ride the carousel. its a nice little park downtown. its shaded by huge oak trees and its only $1 to ride the carousel. too bad i can never get any pics of kaed riding since i'm always standing up there with him.

he thought the see saw was fun. although it aggravated me because its just the springy kind, not the REAL ones we used to have as kids!

for some reason the kid is always fascinated with the mulch.

as you can see, the boy will NOT look at the camera.... for ANYTHING! these are the shots i get most of the time. i was just praying he would look up at me for this one. he was lying on the ground looking up at the sky and his eyes had the most AMAZING catchlights. but of course everytime i stood above him with the camera he looked away and this is what i got.

i just loved this old house and the way the old oaks just canopied over it.

and just for kicks, and because he IS looking at me, here's one from the tub last night. :)

its trick or treating time tonight and i am excited. kaeden doesn't get it yet but i hope he will later. keep you fingers crossed that he wants to wear his costume for at least 30 minutes so we can walk down the street! although, i think he'll end up having more fun sitting on the porch with us handing out candy. we shall see...
