Washington Oaks

Last week was filled with fun things since Kaeden was on spring break from school. My mom had the week off too so it was nice for us all to be able to spend some time together. One of the days we spent at Washington Oaks State Park. It was a nice drive down to Palm Coast near Marineland and such a gorgeous day to be outside! The park has the Matanzas River on one side and the ocean, full of cochina rock, on the other. It has trails for hiking and biking, a playground with picnic tables, and gorgeous gardens.

We started the day off with a little picnic lunch at the playground and then walked out by the river. It was so nice to just sit in the sun and watch the boats go by.

After that we headed to the gardens. It was so beautiful there. Unfortunately not everything was in bloom yet. I think between the long winter we had and the fact that its just now warming up, a lot of things haven't had time to bloom. It was still nice though and the landscaping is just so relaxing and tranquil. We really enjoyed it.

I just loved this tree and the light that surrounded it.

And Kaeden thought he'd be Tarzan.

Kaeden was dying to go the beach side so we drove there next. This picture speaks for itself. I was in heaven.

We spent a couple of hours just playing on the beach, looking for shells, and climbing on the cochina rocks.

The water is still REALLY cold, although by watching this kid you'd never guess it!

I can't wait to go back here many more times in the future. It was such a wonderful day!
