Bye-Bye Paci...

(day 56)

Thats right. We got rid of it today. It was long over due. He's just too big to still be so dependent on it for napping and bedtime. Matt, Jeremy and I have all agreed that its time to just bite the bullet and get rid of it. So what better time to start then right NOW. I knew that I had to not have ANY left in the house or I would cave. So, I used the strategy my friend successfully used with her son.

I gathered up the few paci's we had left hanging around here. I sat down with Kaeden and told him that since he was such a big boy now that he didn't need the paci anymore. We would throw them in the trash and let the garbage truck take it away. Then there would be more paci's for the little babies who need them. After about 5 minutes of standing at the trash can not really sure if he could do it or not, he finally tossed them in.

We waited for the garbage truck to come and watched as they dumped the trash can in to the back of the truck. Kaeden was a little upset to see it go. But after just a minute or so he was ok and told the paci bye-bye.

Its now naptime and my child, MY CHILD, is laying in his crib WITHOUT his paci. And he isn't crying. He isn't sleeping, but he isn't crying. Not yet, anyway. ;)
